Performances
Conejo Civic Ballet Company (CCBC) presents several dance performances a year including a production of Nutcracker in early December, Introduction to Dance in the winter (a production exclusively for 2nd graders of the Conejo Valley Unified School District), and a production in Spring of a full length ballet. While ballets like Nutcracker are performed every year, the choreography changes to accommodate our changing talent pool of student dancers. New students arrive, some students leave for careers and most of the rest have gained a year of experience and are ready for a bigger challenge. The result of all this work is a fresh experience for the audience and a challenge to the dancer that furthers their dance training.
We opened our 2003 season with a new production of a full length Sleeping Beauty with music by Tchaikovsky and choreography adapted from that of Petipa by Brett Weidlich. Sleeping Beauty was performed again in the 2004 season. A new production of the ballet was mounted for the 2007 Spring Season and choreographed by Brett Weidlich.
The Fall 2003 performance of Nutcracker was a new production of this classic ballet, with all new costumes and sets. Mr. John Ling of Shanghai Ballet and American Ballet Theatre choreographed our first annual production of Nutcracker and it opened to a large enthusiastic audience. Performing with us as guest artists were Los Robles Children's Choir who sang four opening songs and added their voices to the orchestral score during the Snowflake scene near the end of Act 1. In subsequent years the choreography was modified by Helena Pokorny and most recently by Brett Weidlich.
The tabs above will take you to photos and video clips of some of these performances.
